How much custom shirts cost depends on three things: the shirt itself, the print method and how many you order. On our site, one custom photo Hawaiian shirt costs $39.90 in any men’s size from S to 6XL, 11 to 49 shirts cost $28.90 each, and 50 to 99 cost $25.90 each. US shipping is free from $79.
Here’s the short version:
- Price: $39.90 for one shirt, $35.90 each for two, $33.90 each for three and $31.90 each for 4 to 10.
- Groups: $28.90 each for 11 to 49 shirts, $25.90 each for 50 to 99, and a quote from 100 shirts.
- Minimum: none. Every shirt in the cart counts toward the tier, even across different designs.
- Sizes: men’s S to 6XL, all at the same price.
- Shipping: free in the US from $79; below that, a flat rate shown at checkout. Allow 7 to 17 business days door to door.
- Preview: the live preview and background removal are free, so you see the print before you pay.

| Personalization | Stock art or your own photo or logo | Face, pet or logo included in the shirt price |
| Quantity | Setup work spread over more shirts | Price drops from the second shirt |

How much do custom shirts cost in 2027?
Custom shirt prices depend on what kind of shirt you mean. A custom T-shirt is usually a ready-made blank with a print on the chest or back. A custom Hawaiian shirt like ours is printed edge to edge on the fabric and then cut and sewn, so the whole garment is the design. One of ours costs $39.90, and the price per shirt falls as the order grows.

Most price lists online are for T-shirts and assume a dozen or more of the same design. That is a different product with a different cost structure.
| Question | Custom T-shirt on a blank | All-over printed Hawaiian shirt (ours) |
|---|---|---|
| What gets printed | One or two areas, often the chest or back | The whole fabric, collar to hem, before sewing |
| How a photo is used | Usually one image in one spot | Faces, pets or a logo repeated through the pattern |
| Why quantity matters | Setup is often paid once per design, so small runs cost more each | No minimum; the tier price drops from 2 shirts |
| What sets the price | Colors, print spots, garment brand | Total number of shirts in the cart |
The Dark Tropical Flowers shirt pictured above shows a full print: the faces sit inside the flower pattern across the whole shirt.
What makes one custom shirt cost more than another?
Four things move the price of a custom shirt: how the color is printed, how much of the shirt is covered, how many shirts share the setup work, and how much personal work goes into each one. A one-color logo on 50 tees and 50 different faces on button-ups are both “custom shirts,” yet their costs have little in common.
Number of colors and screens
Screen printing lays down one color at a time, so a design with several colors needs several screens [1]. Full-color photos can be built from four process colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black), which cuts the screen count but still needs setup before the first shirt prints [1]. Screen printers like larger runs because the same setup is spread over more shirts.
Print area and the garment
Dye sublimation uses heat and pressure to move the image into polyester fabric or a polyester coating [2]. It works on white or light polyester and does not work on black fabric [2]. Our shirts are printed edge to edge with this method and then cut and sewn. The face or logo is dyed into the fabric instead of sitting on top like a transfer, so it does not crack or peel. We check each photo before printing and email you if one will not print well.
What buyers complain about
One complaint in print-on-demand threads is that one-off screen prints are expensive while some cheap digital prints last only a few washes [3]. The lowest sticker price is not always the lowest cost per wear, so ask how the print is made before you compare.
What does a photo Hawaiian shirt cost by quantity?
A photo Hawaiian shirt on our site is priced by the total number of shirts in your cart. Designs, sizes and pockets can be mixed, and every shirt counts toward the discount. The cart applies it automatically, and 100 or more shirts get a quote.
| Shirts in the cart | Price per shirt (USD) | Example total (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $39.90 | 1 shirt: $39.90 |
| 2 | $35.90 | 2 shirts: $71.80 |
| 3 | $33.90 | 3 shirts: $101.70 |
| 4 to 10 | $31.90 | 10 shirts: $319.00 |
| 11 to 49 | $28.90 | 25 shirts: $722.50 |
| 50 to 99 | $25.90 | 60 shirts: $1,554.00 |
| 100 or more | Quote | Reply within one business day |

Eleven shirts ($317.90) cost less than ten ($319.00), and 50 shirts ($1,295.00) cost less than 45 ($1,300.50). If your headcount sits just under 11 or 50, a few spare shirts lower the total and cover late joiners. Also, two shirts come to $71.80, under the $79 free-shipping line, while three shirts ($101.70) ship free.
Every size costs the same, so a 6XL and an S in one group pay the same per shirt. The group pricing calculator shows totals for common group sizes, and all our personalized Hawaiian shirts follow the same tiers.
What hidden costs should you check before ordering?
The price per shirt is rarely the whole bill for custom shirts. Before you compare two shops, check six lines: setup fees, extras, shipping, sales tax, the cost of changes, and who pays if something goes wrong.
| Cost to check | What to ask any shop | Our answer |
|---|---|---|
| Setup or design fee | Is there a per-design or per-color fee? | The cart charges the tier price per shirt; preview and background removal are free |
| Extras | Do pockets or bigger sizes cost more? | Chest pocket and sizes S to 6XL at no extra cost |
| Shipping | When is it free, and what does it cost below that? | Free from $79; under $79, a flat rate shown at checkout |
| Tax | Is the quoted total before or after tax? | Prices and calculator totals are before tax |
| Changes | Can you change the size or photo after ordering? | Yes, within 24 hours, by replying to the confirmation email |
| Mistakes | Who pays if the print is wrong? | Misprint, damage or loss: reprint or refund, with a photo within 14 days |
Read “free” and “sale” prices carefully
US rules set a clear bar for “free” offers. The FTC’s guide says the word “Free” means a buyer “is paying nothing for that article and no more than the regular price for the other” [4]. Crossed-out “was” prices deserve the same care. The FTC’s pricing guide warns that when a former price was never real, “the ‘reduced’ price is, in reality, probably just the seller’s regular price” [5]. Our product cards show the single-shirt price next to the 4+ price, so what you see is the tier you pay.
Sales tax on clothing depends on your state
Tax is the line most price lists leave out, and clothing rules differ by state. A few examples from state tax agencies:
| State | What the state says about clothing |
|---|---|
| New York | Clothing under $110 per item is exempt from the 4% state sales tax; local taxes apply unless the county or city opts in [6] |
| Texas | Shirts priced under $100 qualify during the sales tax holiday [7] |
| California | Statewide rate of 7.25%, plus district taxes of 0.10% to 2.00% in most areas [8] |
| Florida | General state rate of 6%, plus a county surtax in many counties [9] |
How long does a custom shirt take, and does faster cost more?
A custom shirt from us is printed after you order, so delivery time is production plus transit. Allow 7 to 17 business days door to door for a US order: 1 to 2 business days for the photo check, 3 to 5 for production and 3 to 10 for tracked transit. We do not list a paid rush option, so plan on those times.
Groups of up to 40 shirts need about three weeks door to door, and 41 to 200 shirts need four to five weeks. November and December run longer. For delivery by Friday, December 18, 2026, approve the proof and size list by Thursday, November 19 for up to 40 shirts, or by Thursday, November 5 for 41 to 200.
Federal rules also protect buyers. When a seller states no shipping time, it must have a reasonable basis to ship within 30 days, and if it cannot ship on time it must let you accept the delay or cancel for a prompt refund [10]. Our shipping policy lists every stage.
Worked example: 23 shirts for a family reunion in March 2027
Say you are organizing a family reunion on Saturday, March 20, 2027, with 23 adults, each with their own face in one shared print. At 23 shirts you are in the 11 to 49 tier, so each shirt is $28.90 and the order is $664.70, with free US shipping.

| Option | Shirts | Price per shirt (USD) | Total (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exact headcount | 23 | $28.90 | $664.70 |
| Two spares for late joiners | 25 | $28.90 | $722.50 |
| Same 25 at the single-shirt price | 25 | $39.90 | $997.50 |
The 25-shirt order saves $275.00 against buying shirts one at a time. If each person pays their own share, the split-payment option at checkout sends everyone a card payment link (2 to 50 people, at least $10 each), and printing starts once every share is paid.
A group of up to 40 needs about three weeks door to door, so the latest safe order date is around Saturday, February 27. A calmer plan: pick the print and collect sizes by Monday, February 8, gather the photos by Monday, February 15, then order and approve the proof on Monday, February 22, almost four weeks out. Each person lays a shirt that fits flat, measures across the chest and from shoulder to hem, and checks the size guide. Chest widths run from 20.5 inches on an S to 35.5 inches on a 6XL.
How can you check the price and the print before you pay?
Upload your photo or logo in the live preview, pick a design, and look at the print on the shirt before you pay. The cart then shows the tier price for your total. The preview and the background removal cost nothing.
- Upload a sharp photo, pet photo or logo: JPG, PNG or WebP up to 8 MB.
- For a logo, send a vector file (SVG, PDF, AI or EPS), or a transparent PNG at least 1,500 px on the long side.
- Groups approve a digital proof before printing.
- Within 24 hours of ordering, you can change size, collar, pocket, pattern or photo.
If something arrives wrong, our refund and reprint policy covers misprints, damage and loss. There are no change-of-mind returns, because each shirt is made for one person. Companies can see logo examples on the company Hawaiian shirts page, and our guide on how to put a picture on a shirt compares DIY methods with printed ones.
Conclusion
How much custom shirts cost comes down to the garment, the print and the quantity. A printed T-shirt and an all-over printed button-up are different products, so compare like with like and add shipping, tax and the cost of mistakes before you decide which is cheaper.
For a photo Hawaiian shirt the math is short: $39.90 for one, $28.90 each for 11 to 49, $25.90 each for 50 to 99, free US shipping from $79 and no minimum. Upload a photo in the design studio and see your shirt before you pay.
